Ranibennur Blackbuck Deer Sanctuary
This unique sanctuary was a bid to save the endangered blackbuck. All of 119 sq.km. in area, with a 15 km radius marked out-of-bounds to visitors, this sanctuary is a serious attempt at protecting the natural habitat of this threatened species. Covered in shrubs forest and eucalyptus plantations, you might also spot wolves, fox, pangolin, hyena, wild boar, the rare Great Indian Bustard and many other bird species including bay-backed strikes, large grey babblers and sand grouse.
